The Case of the Psychic Parrot

Revelation 4:6-8 "And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: 'Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!'"
I am tentatively of the opinion that psychic phenomena are in the realm of the "soul" (Greek ψύχη or psyche), which we also share with every living thing. That which causes physical organisms on the planet to be alive is represented in John's vision as the Living Creatures which have the identities of Lions, Cattle, Birds and Man. This would be the spirit of life before the throne of God which is making all earthly creatures live. This is what we call the Soul.Life on the earth is "Soul-ish", and everyone, including the birds, have it as the life force that imbues the planet. The New Age religion calls it Gaia, from Greek mythology, representing the earth mother of all living things. Eastern religions call is Chi or Qi. Planet earth is saturated with life. Because of that common sharing of the life force of Soul, we can experience a connection with all other life.
Thus, Buck Brannaman "whispers" to horses and helps them with "people problems". The parrot in the film above is a "human whisperer" and knows what his owner is thinking. Dogs also are "human whisperers", and constantly surprise their dull witted masters even knowing when said master has made the decision to return home, and then waits by the door until he arrives. In my speculation right now I will go so far as to say that the oneness of all things that people who meditate experience, is them focusing their spirits or minds on their souls and opening up to this level of soul-life.
From a Biblical perspective, these people are spirits (a divine image) focusing their attention on their souls (animal life) and the connection there to all living things.
This is why you have the upteen quadrillion dollar effort by scientists funded by the world monetary system to find life on any other planet - to prove that animal life is not unique to the earth and is therefore NOT soul but only electro-chemical processes.
However, there is more to us as humans. Our spiritual image is what makes us unique from all other life on the planet. Our spirit is that which relates to God who is also a spirit. We humans, as spirits in the image of God, are incarnated or "born" into this physical and psychical or soul-ish realm to live out a life of searching for and finding God and then growing into the character of his Son. However the growth that we are after is spiritual growth, not physical or psychical. The individual (undividable) spirit (pneuma) of our being is what and who we are. Cattle are cattle, but humans are individuals. At least some are. I have, like Paul the apostle, met some brute beasts that made me wonder.
That is why you have the massive efforts by scientists to get animals to act like humans and to convince humans that they are nothing more than animals. You could say that most modern "science" is waging a war against the spirit in each of us, indeed, waging a religious war.
Our spiritual eyes that we need to be able to see, is faith. Without faith we are blind no matter how well we see psyche or soul. Faith is not just believing a set of facts but also trusting in the living God who communicates spiritual life to us, which is himself, the personal foundation of all life. Faith also includes the loving obedience to his will and the purging of ourselves from the world's influence and living a different (holy) kind of life devoted to his purpose, which is the type of love he rewards by giving that life to us fully, manifesting himself to us. Loving others and helping them come to the light becomes the product of our relationship to God as his children. That is the fruit of the Spirit.
Many are trying to determine from whence the obvious and scientifically provable psychic phenomena originate. Scientists like to think physically or materialistically and so look for psychic "particles" being transferred or even electrical currents flowing from being to being that produce a psychic experience. Psychics (or those who are adepts), on the other hand, the real ones, are of the mind that the phenomena are on the spiritual level, meaning incorporeal, but in that viewpoint, they are not making the distinction between the soul and the spirit.It's just a theory, but I'll go with the idea that psychic phenomena are soul connections on the level of all life.
However, when we start dealing with dead people on a psychic level, like the appearance of ghosts, then that is another matter. Right now, I surmise that a ghost is a spirit whose body has died therefore has dropped his "soul vehicle" which is required to live on this physical plane and he needs to go on or back to God (what psychics call crossing over), because to hang around here without a soul just doesn't work.
